Lightning Acquire Jonathan Racine, Draft Pick From Habs

The Lightning have acquired defenseman Jonathan Racine, along with a sixth-round selection in the 2017 NHL Draft, from the Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Nikita Nesterov, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.

Racine, 23, has played in one NHL game, that coming during the 2013-14 season while a member of the Panthers. He was traded from the Panthers to Montreal prior to the start of this season and has played 26 games for the St. John’s IceCaps, the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate. Racine has three assists and ranks fourth on the team and first among IceCaps’ defensemen for penalty minutes with 58.

Racine was originally a third round draft pick, 87th overall, of the Panthers at the 2011 NHL Draft

Sharks Trade Wingels To Sens For Two Prospects, Draft Pick

The San Jose Sharks have traded forward Tommy Wingels to the Ottawa Senators for two minor league forwards and a 2017 seventh-round draft pick.

The deal made Tuesday helps clear up salary cap room for the Sharks if they want to make an addition before the trade deadline. Wingels is in the final year of a contract that pays him $2.475 million this season. San Jose will retain 30 percent of Wingels' remaining salary.

Kings Acquire Cam Schilling From Hawks

The Los Angeles Kings have acquired defenseman Cam Schilling from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for forward Michael Latta, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Schilling is expected to be assigned to Ontario (AHL). Schilling, 28, has appeared in 40 games with Chicago’s AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, recording 17 points (7-10=17) and 18 penalty minutes. At the time of the trade, Schilling led IceHogs defensemen in goals and ranked second among defensemen in points and assists. 

Latta, 25, appeared in 29 games this season with Ontario (AHL), recording six points (2-4=6), a plus-4 rating and 67 penalty minutes. He was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent, July 1, 2016.

Ducks Trade Andrew O'Brien To Predators For Max Gortz

The Ducks announced today that the club has acquired right wing Max Gortz from the Predators in exchange for left wing Andrew O’Brien.

Gortz, 23, collected 1-3=4 points with two penalty minutes (PIM) in 30 games with Milwaukee of the AHL this season. Selected by Nashville in the sixth round (172nd overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft, Gortz has recorded 19-32=51 points in 102 career AHL games with Milwaukee.

O’Brien, 24, recorded two assists (0-2=2) with four PIM in 10 games for San Diego this season. Selected by Anaheim in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft, O’Brien has recorded 10-20=30 points with 180 PIM in 135 career AHL games with San Diego (2015-17) and Norfolk (2013-15).

Avs Trade Cody McLeod To Predators For Prospect

The sell-off began in Colorado on Friday with the last-place Avalanche dealing veteran forward Cody McLeod to the Nashville Predators in exchange for prospect Felix Girard.

A source told ESPN that the Avalanche retained 40 percent of McLeod's remaining salary and cap hit. The 32-year-old has another year left on his deal after this season at a $1.33 million cap hit.

Leafs Trade Jhonas Enroth To Ducks For 2018 Draft Pick

The Maple Leafs announced today that the club has traded goaltender Jhonas Enroth to the Ducks for a seventh-round draft pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

Enroth has split his season between the Leafs and Toronto’s AHL affiliate, the Marlies. In six games with the Maple Leafs, Enroth was 0-3-1 with a 3.94 goals-against-average.
